Hand cleaning for Copley's older ranches and newer two-story homes, with every downspout flushed and the water sent away from the foundation. Text your address for a price within the hour.

Gutter cleaning in Copley, Ohio costs $150 to $300 with Guttrz. A single-story ranch near Copley Circle with light debris is about $150, and a two-story colonial in a newer subdivision or a house with heavy oak debris runs up to $300. Every run is cleaned by hand, debris is bagged and hauled away, every downspout is flushed until it runs clear, and before-and-after photos are sent the same day. On Copley's flat, slow-draining lots we also check that each downspout is sending water away from the foundation.

Why does gutter cleaning in Copley, Ohio start with where the water goes?

Gutter cleaning in Copley, Ohio is as much about the ground as the roof. Much of the township was wet before it was built on. The township's own planning history describes the old Copley swamps and their muck soil. The Copley Ditch and Black Pond Outlet basin alone drains about 1,500 acres that were once one large wetland. Pigeon Creek crosses the southeast part of the township on its way to Wolf Creek and the Tuscarawas River, and the trails at Copley Community Park run along wetland edges.

On ground like that, a gutter problem becomes a foundation problem fast. Water from a plugged downspout does not run off a flat lot. It sits against the block. So every Guttrz cleaning in Copley ends with each downspout flushed clear and a look at where that water lands. The price is $150 to $300. The main gutter cleaning page lists what is included. This page covers what is different here.

What is different about cleaning an older ranch near Copley Circle?

Copley Circle is the township's center. Gardiner and Elizabeth Greene gave its two acres to the township in 1831 for a farmers' market, and wagons cutting the corners of the square wore it into a circle. The streets around it filled in through the 1950s and 1960s. On South Plainview Drive, for example, the typical house dates to about 1959 and sits on roughly half an acre.

A ranch from that era puts the gutter at nine or ten feet, which is quick ladder work. The trees are the issue. Copley has been named a Tree City USA every year from 2018 through 2024, one of only four townships in Ohio to earn it, and the oaks and maples planted with those houses now stand well above the roofline. Oaks drop acorns and twigs along with leaves, and that mix does not float. It settles in the corners and at the outlet and locks together.

Many of these ranches have one downspout per side, so a single packed corner takes out the whole side of the house. We clear the corners by hand and tell you if a run has dropped out of pitch.

What about the newer two-story homes in Copley's subdivisions?

Copley has been building. The township counted 551 new housing starts from 2015 through 2024, 128 of them in 2020, and the population grew 23 percent between 2009 and 2020, to 18,403. Two-story colonials in developments like the Preserve at Miller's Farm, where homes went up around 2017, sit on lots where the trees are still young.

These houses are a different job. The leaf load is lighter, but the gutter is 20 feet or more up, and a two-story with a front gable has more inside corners than a ranch. New asphalt roofs also shed granules for their first few years. That grit settles at the outlets, and a hose from the ground will not move it.

How do you get downspouts draining away from the foundation on a flat Copley lot?

On a flat, slow-draining lot the downspout matters more than the gutter. If the elbow at the top is packed, the gutter overflows at the house. If the bottom dumps straight down at the foundation, the water soaks in right there. Both put water against the basement wall. Here is what we do on every cleaning.

  1. Clear the elbow at the top of each downspout by hand. This is the spot that plugs first.
  2. Run a hose at the top until the water comes out the bottom fast and clear.
  3. Watch where that water goes. If it pools at the block, we tell you and send a photo.
  4. Reset a splash block that has slid or tipped, if one is there.
  5. Flush any downspout that goes into the ground to the connection, and tell you if it backs up.

Guttrz does not do underground drain work. A blocked buried line is a job for a drain company with a jetter. Our post on clogged gutters and wet basements explains how to tell a gutter problem from a grading or drain problem first.

What did Guttrz find on fall 2026 cleanings nearby?

What we can share is first hand from our September and October 2026 cleanings in Canton, Massillon and North Canton. The North Canton houses sat under mature oaks, the same trees that shade the older streets around Copley Circle. Acorns, twigs and leaves had packed the corners and outlets. The elbow at the top of the downspout was often solid, so the gutter held water like a bathtub and spilled over the front edge in light rain. Clearing the elbow and flushing the downspout fixed it. The photos on this page are from those jobs. More are on the before and after page.

Our post on why gutters overflow covers the other causes.

How does Guttrz get from North Canton to Copley?

Guttrz is based at 1196 Doncaster St NW in North Canton. The usual route is I-77 north to exit 122, I-277 west to I-76, west to exit 13, and north on State Route 21 to the Copley Road exit. Copley Road is State Route 162, and it runs west past Copley Community Park to the Circle. When Akron traffic is light, I-77 straight through to exit 131 at Copley Road works too. Either way it is about half an hour, with no travel charge. Owner Christian Schaffner does the on-site work check.

When should Copley gutters be cleaned, and is a cleaning enough?

Under oaks, wait until mid or late November. Oaks hold their leaves longer than maples, and an October cleaning is partly wasted. Newer subdivisions with young trees can usually get by with one late fall visit and a spring check after the maple seeds drop. Our guide to how often to clean gutters in Ohio has a schedule by tree cover.

A loose spike or a weeping corner is a gutter repair. A run rusted through is a case for seamless gutters. Guards are optional. If you pay for two cleanings a year under big oaks, they cost $17 per foot on a single story and $19 per foot on two stories, cleaning included. The Copley gutter guard page and the cost page have the math. Customer reviews are on the reviews page.

Questions

My Copley basement gets damp in one corner after a hard rain. Can a gutter cleaning fix that?

Often it helps, and sometimes it solves it. On Copley's flat, slow-draining ground a plugged downspout elbow sends a whole roof section of water down the wall at one corner. We clear the elbow, flush the downspout and show you in photos where the water comes out. If the downspout is clear and the corner is still wet, the cause is grading or a buried drain, and we tell you that instead of selling you another cleaning.

Do houses near Copley Community Park or Pigeon Creek need gutter cleaning more often?

Usually, yes. Lots that back up to the wetlands around the park or to a creek line keep a tree edge that never gets cleared, and the shade keeps gutter debris wet so it packs down. Plan on a late fall cleaning after the oaks drop and a spring check after the maple seeds. A house with branches over the roof may need a third visit.

How tall a ladder does a two-story Copley colonial need, and does that change the price?

The gutter on a two-story is usually 20 feet or more off the ground, so it takes a long extension ladder set on a standoff that rests on the roof edge, never on the gutter. The height and the extra corners are why two-story homes land toward $300 instead of $150. Mention a walkout basement or a steep back grade when you text, since that adds height on the back of the house.

My downspouts run into the ground. Do you clear those drains?

No. We flush every downspout from the top and confirm water reaches the connection at the bottom. If the buried line backs up, we tell you and show you in the photos, but clearing it takes a drain company with a jetter or a camera. Many older Copley lots on septic or with old field tile have these lines, so it is worth knowing their condition.

My Copley ranch has one downspout per side. Is that enough?

It can be, as long as the run is pitched toward it and the elbow stays clear. A 40 or 50 foot run with one outlet has no backup, so one packed corner floods the whole side. If a run holds water after it is clean, that is a pitch problem and a repair, not a cleaning issue. Adding a second downspout is a small job we can quote while we are there.
