Worked example: a single-story ranch
A 1,400 square foot ranch with an attached garage typically carries about 150 feet of gutter and 4 corners: a long run on the front and back, plus the garage face and a short return. Worked example: the footage on a 2 story house
A two-story colonial of similar square footage stacks its rooms, so it has less roof edge per square foot, but a garage, a covered porch and a rear addition add runs and corners.
