For a 175-foot home, Guttrz math is footage times one rate. A single story with 4 corners is 175 feet at the single-story rate. A two story with 6 corners is 175 feet at the two-story rate, a few dollars more per foot. Corners are included either way, so the corner count never changes the total. LeafFilter vs micro mesh from a local installer: is the product different?

Not in category. LeafFilter and Guttrz both put a fine stainless steel mesh over the gutter opening so water passes through and leaves, seeds, and needles stay on top. The differences are in the frame material, how the guard attaches, and who stands behind it. Neither kind of guard is zero maintenance.

In Northeast Ohio, fine mesh matters. Maple helicopter seeds in spring and pine needles slip through the larger holes of cheap screens. Shingle granules wash off older roofs in heavy summer storms. Where LeafFilter is a good choice

LeafFilter is a good choice if a lifetime, transferable no-clog warranty matters more to you than price, or if you want a large, established company behind the product. Those are real advantages, and we would rather say so plainly.

• Their warranty transfers and covers repair. LeafFilter's warranty page says that if its system lets your gutters clog and overflow, or your home has interior water damage from that, it will repair the problem or refund the material purchase price. It is lifetime and transfers to the next owner. Guttrz installs Leaf Solution gutter guards, which carry Leaf Solution's Lifetime No-Clog Warranty on the material, and Guttrz adds a 10-year workmanship warranty on the install. Both are lifetime no-clog warranties on the product, but Leaf Solution's covers material only, not labor, and does not say it transfers. Read our full warranty terms and compare them side by side.
• They have been around a long time. LeafFilter says it started in Hudson, Ohio in 2005. Guttrz was founded in 2026. If a company's track record is your top concern, that gap is real.
• The quote does not expire quickly. LeafFilter states its customized quote is good for one full year, the same as ours.
• Selling soon. A transferable lifetime warranty can be something to hand a buyer.

Where a local installer wins

A local installer wins on price, speed, and simplicity. You can see a price range by text before anyone comes to your house, and the per-foot cost is lower.

• Price. A local per-foot rate with no in-home sales appointment built into it, compared with the $25 to $40 per foot homeowners commonly report from national brands. On 200 feet, that difference can run into thousands of dollars.
• No appointment to get a number. You send an address. You get footage and a range by text within an hour. The 20-minute on-site visit is a ladder check, not a presentation.
• Everything in one price. Cleaning, downspout flushing, corner resealing, debris removal, and same-day photos are part of every Guttrz install.

How to compare two gutter guard quotes line by line

To compare gutter guard quotes fairly, turn each one into a price per foot, then check what the price includes and what the warranty covers. Two quotes that look far apart can be closer, or further apart, once you line them up.

1. Footage. Find the linear feet on each quote. If one does not list footage, ask for it.
2. Price per foot. Divide the total by the footage. This is the single most useful number.
3. Corners and height. Check whether corners and two-story work are priced separately or built in.
4. Prep work. Look for cleaning, downspout flushing, resealing, and fixing gutter slope.
5. Materials. Compare mesh material, frame material, and how the guard attaches. Ask whether any screws go through shingles.
6. Warranty. Separate material coverage, workmanship coverage, and clog or water damage coverage. Note how long each lasts and whether it transfers.
7. Price terms. Note how long the price is good for and the deposit.
8. Cancellation notice. Check that the agreement includes Ohio's written notice of your right to cancel.

Here is an example with made-up numbers. A national brand quote of $6,300 for 180 feet works out to $35 per foot, inside the range homeowners commonly report. Text us the same 180 feet at two-story height with 6 corners and you get a written per-foot range for comparable micro-mesh, corners included. The gap between the two numbers is what you would be paying for the difference in warranty, company size, and sales model. Whether that is worth it is your call.

LeafFilter reviews in Ohio: what to check

Read reviews for patterns, not star averages. LeafFilter lists its home office in Hudson, Ohio, and has profiles on the Better Business Bureau and major review sites. Sort by newest and read the low reviews. Look for whether complaints are about the product, the sales visit, scheduling, or warranty service, and how the company responds.

Can you cancel a gutter guard contract in Ohio?

Yes, for home solicitation sales. Under Ohio Revised Code 1345.22, you can cancel until midnight of the third business day after you sign. The notice has to be in writing and sent to the address, email, or fax number listed in the agreement.

Under section 1345.23, the seller has to give you a written cancellation notice with your contract, and after a valid cancellation must refund your payments within ten business days.
