Seamless gutters in Canton, Ohio are made at your house, not bought off a shelf. A machine on the truck rolls each gutter out of a coil of painted aluminum and cuts it to the exact length of the run. Tear-off and haul-away of your old gutters is included in every job. This page covers what new gutters commonly cost here, what is in a Guttrz gutter replacement, how the install goes, and when a repair is the better call.

How much do seamless gutters cost in Canton, Ohio?

Seamless aluminum gutters in Northeast Ohio are commonly quoted at about $8 to $14 per linear foot installed for 5-inch and about $10 to $18 per foot for 6-inch. A typical house with 150 to 200 feet of gutter commonly lands around $1,500 to $3,500, depending on size, stories, and downspouts. These are market ranges, not Guttrz prices.

The table shows what those commonly quoted per-foot ranges work out to at three house sizes. It is simple math on the market range, gutter only.

Gutter footageTypical house5-inch, typical market range6-inch, typical market range
120 feetSmall ranch or bungalow$960 to $1,680$1,200 to $2,160
160 feetMid-size ranch or split level$1,280 to $2,240$1,600 to $2,880
200 feetTwo-story colonial with an attached garage$1,600 to $2,800$2,000 to $3,600

Three things move a real quote inside or outside those numbers:

  • Downspouts. They are usually a separate line on a gutter quote, priced by the foot or by the piece.
  • Removal of the old gutters. Some companies add about $1 to $2 per foot for tear-off and disposal. Ask before you compare totals.
  • Height and roof shape. Second-story runs, steep pitches, and a lot of corners take longer and usually cost more.

How the Guttrz quote works

Guttrz does not publish a per-foot price for seamless gutters. Your firm price comes in writing after a 20-minute on-site check, with gutters and downspouts listed on the same quote. That price is good for one year. There is no in-home sales presentation and no price that expires tonight. The market ranges above are there so you know what is normal. Your written Guttrz quote is the number that counts.

What is included in a Guttrz gutter replacement?

A Guttrz gutter replacement includes tear-off and haul-away of the old gutters and downspouts, new seamless aluminum K-style gutters formed on site in 5-inch or 6-inch, and hidden hangers screwed into the fascia. New downspouts are priced on the same written quote, so you see the whole job before you say yes.

  • Tear-off and haul-away. Included in every gutter job. The old gutters and downspouts leave with us.
  • Seamless runs cut to length. Each run is one piece from end to end. The only joints are at corners, end caps, and downspout outlets.
  • Hidden hangers, not spikes. Guttrz hangs gutters on hidden hangers screwed into the fascia. A screw holds in wood far better than a smooth spike, and nothing shows from the ground.
  • Downspout replacement. New downspouts sized to the gutter, priced on the same quote.
  • A fascia check. The board behind the gutter is checked once the old gutter is off. Rotted wood is a separate repair, and it is quoted before work continues.
  • Problems fixed fast. Any problem with the install that you report is fixed within 30 days at no charge. Warranty terms are written on your quote.

One thing to ask any installer, including us: which aluminum thickness is on the quote. Residential gutter coil is commonly .027 or .032 inch thick, and .032 is the heavier, more dent-resistant of the two.

Do you need 5-inch or 6-inch gutters?

Most houses do fine with 5-inch gutters, the common residential size. A 6-inch gutter carries roughly 40 percent more water. It suits large or steep roofs, long runs, metal roofs, and roof valleys that dump a lot of water in one spot.

The downspouts matter as much as the trough. A 5-inch gutter usually pairs with 2x3-inch downspouts and a 6-inch gutter with 3x4-inch. A 3x4 downspout moves roughly twice the water of a 2x3. If one corner of your house overflows in every summer thunderstorm while the gutter is clean, that run is a candidate for the larger size. You can also mix sizes, with 6-inch only where the roof needs it. The full comparison is in 5-inch vs 6-inch gutters.

How does seamless gutter installation go, step by step?

Seamless gutter installation in North Canton, Canton, and Massillon follows the same steps as every Guttrz job. Most homes are done in a day.

  1. Send your address. Use the form on this page or text (330) 818-5584. We contact you within the hour during business hours.
  2. The 20-minute on-site check. The owner sets a ladder, measures every run, counts corners and downspouts, looks at the roof areas feeding each gutter, and checks the fascia that can be seen.
  3. One firm written price. Gutters, downspouts, and anything else found are listed in writing. The price is good for one year.
  4. Tear-off. On install day the old gutters and downspouts come down and are hauled away. The fascia is checked again now that it is exposed.
  5. Forming and hanging. Each gutter is roll-formed at the curb to the measured length, carried to the house in one piece, and hung on hidden hangers. Runs are pitched toward the downspout, about a quarter inch for every 10 feet.
  6. Corners, outlets, and downspouts. Corners and end caps are sealed, outlets are cut in, and the new downspouts are strapped to the wall.
  7. Cleanup and a water check. Old metal, screws, and scrap leave the yard. The runs are checked for flow before we go.

A common guideline is one downspout for roughly every 30 to 40 feet of gutter. If your current layout has a long run feeding a single small downspout, the on-site check is the time to talk about adding one. More about the visit is on our how it works page.

Should you repair or replace your gutters?

Repair is enough more often than people expect. One leaking corner, one sagging run with sound metal, a clogged downspout, or loose spikes on otherwise straight aluminum are all repairs. Aluminum does not rust, and a well-hung aluminum gutter commonly lasts 20 years or more.

Gutter replacement in Canton, Ohio makes sense when the metal itself has failed: rust holes in steel gutters, seams split along their length, crushed or bent sections, sags that come back after a proper rehang, or sectional gutters leaking at many joints. It also makes sense when the gutters are too small for the roof, or when the fascia behind them is being replaced anyway. If we look at your gutters and a repair will do, we will say so and quote the repair. Our gutter repair page covers resealing, resloping, and rehanging. The symptom-by-symptom guide is in repair or replace gutters, and if your gutter is tipping off the fascia, start with gutters pulling away from the house.

Can you add gutter guards to new gutters?

Yes. New gutters can get Leaf Solution gutter guards installed on the same visit, at the normal guard rate: $17 per foot on a single story and $19 per foot on a two story or steep roof, corners included, with a $1,200 minimum on the guard work.

Example: 160 feet of single-story guard is 160 x $17 = $2,720, added to your written gutter price. New gutters do not need a cleaning first, so that step is simply skipped. The guard is stainless steel micro-mesh on an aluminum frame, and it fits both 5-inch and 6-inch gutters. Guard installs carry Leaf Solution's Lifetime No-Clog Warranty on the material and the Guttrz 10-year workmanship warranty on the guard install. Those two warranties apply to guards only, and the terms are on the warranty page.

Doing both at once means the ladders go up one time. It is not required. If you would rather watch the new gutters through one fall of maple and oak leaves first, guards can go on later at the same rate. The full math is on the gutter guard cost page. Without guards, plan on a gutter cleaning once or twice a year, which runs $150 to $300.

Why are seamless gutters better than sectional gutters?

Seamless gutters have fewer joints, and joints are where gutters leak. Sectional gutters from a home store come in 10-foot pieces, so a 40-foot run has three extra seams held together by sealant. A seamless run of the same length has none between the corners.

That matters more here than in a mild climate. From November to March, temperatures in the Canton area cross the freezing point again and again. Water sits in a seam, freezes, and pries at the sealant. The Akron-Canton area averages about 47 inches of snow a season, and that weight hangs in the gutter for weeks. Every 10-foot joint is also a place where a run can sag under it. Then come the heavy summer thunderstorms, when a gutter runs full and any weak seam shows itself as a drip line on the siding.

Many homes here were built in the 1950s to 1980s and still carry their original gutters, hung on spikes that have backed out a little each winter. On those houses a seamless gutter replacement fixes the joints and the fasteners in one job. If water is already getting to the foundation, read how gutter problems lead to a wet basement for what to check first.

Questions

How long does it take to install seamless gutters?

Most homes are done in a day. That includes taking down and hauling away the old gutters, forming the new ones at the curb, hanging them, and installing the downspouts. A large two-story house, a lot of corners, or fascia that turns out to be rotted once the old gutter is off can add time. If rotted wood is found, that repair is quoted before work continues.

Do you remove and haul away the old gutters?

Yes. Tear-off and haul-away of the old gutters and downspouts is included in every Guttrz gutter job. Some companies list removal as a separate line of about $1 to $2 per foot, so check for it when you compare quotes.

Are new downspouts included with new gutters?

New downspouts are priced on the same written quote as the gutters, as their own line. That is normal in this trade, since downspout footage depends on the height of the house and how many you need. A 5-inch gutter usually gets 2x3-inch downspouts and a 6-inch gutter gets 3x4-inch.

Does Guttrz use spikes or hidden hangers?

Hidden hangers. Guttrz hangs gutters on hidden hangers that sit inside the gutter and screw into the fascia. Spikes are smooth nails that back out over freeze-thaw cycles, which is why so many older gutters in Stark County sag or tip forward. Hidden hangers hold better and do not show from the ground.

What happens if the fascia is rotted behind my old gutters?

The fascia is checked once the old gutter is off, because rot often hides behind the gutter and under aluminum wrap. If the wood is soft, a new gutter should not be hung on it. Rotted wood is a separate repair, and it is quoted before any more work is done, so you decide with the number in front of you.

Can I replace only one section of gutter?

Yes. A single run that is crushed, split, or undersized can be replaced with a new seamless piece while the rest of the house keeps its gutters. The on-site check tells you whether the other runs are sound. If they are, there is no reason to replace them.

Is there a warranty on new seamless gutters from Guttrz?

Any problem with the install that you report is fixed within 30 days at no charge. The warranty terms for your job are written on your quote, so you can read them before you agree to anything. The Leaf Solution Lifetime No-Clog Warranty and the Guttrz 10-year workmanship warranty are for gutter guard installs only.

How long do seamless aluminum gutters last?

A well-hung aluminum gutter commonly lasts 20 years or more. Aluminum does not rust, so what usually ends a gutter's life is physical damage, failed fasteners, or sealant at the corners. Keeping the gutters clean, or covered with guards, keeps standing water and ice weight off the hangers.
