Gutter guard installation in Canton, Ohio

Leaf Solution stainless micro-mesh guards fitted to the gutters you already have, with the cleaning, downspout flush and corner reseal built into the job.

Guttrz provides gutter guard installation in Canton, Ohio and the towns within about 45 minutes of North Canton using the Leaf Solution gutter guard: stainless steel micro-mesh on an aluminum frame, mounted to the fascia so nothing goes under the shingles. Every install includes gutter cleaning, a downspout flush, corner resealing, fitted corners and end caps, and small gutter fixes. The rate is $17 per foot single story and $19 per foot two story or steep, with a $1,200 minimum, and most homes land between $2,400 and $3,700. The material carries Leaf Solution's Lifetime No-Clog Warranty and the install carries a Guttrz 10-year workmanship warranty.

Gutter guard installation in Canton, Ohio from Guttrz means one guard, one written scope of work, and one firm price. This page covers the guard itself, what the install includes, who should skip guards, the warranty, and the limits of any gutter guard. The per-foot math lives on the gutter guard cost page and the steps on the how it works page, so both are kept short here.

What gutter guard does Guttrz install in Canton, Ohio?

Guttrz installs the Leaf Solution gutter guard on every job: stainless steel micro-mesh bonded to an aluminum frame, finished with Leaf Solution's triple-dip process. The frame mounts to the fascia and the front lip of the gutter, so no part of the guard slides under your shingles. It comes in white, black or mill and fits 5-inch and 6-inch K-style gutters, the two common residential sizes.

Why stainless micro-mesh and not a screen

The mesh weave is fine enough to hold back the small stuff that defeats a plastic screen: maple helicopter seeds in May, pine needles all year, and the sand-like granules an aging asphalt roof sheds in every hard rain. Stainless steel does not rust, so the mesh will not streak the gutter or thin out after a few Ohio winters. Foam inserts and snap-in screens cost less per foot but fail in different ways; our comparison of gutter guard types covers each one.

Why the fascia mount matters

Many guards tuck a flange under the first course of shingles. That lifts the shingles, can put a roof warranty at risk, and holds water at the roof edge where ice forms first. The Leaf Solution frame fastens to the fascia board and the gutter lip instead, so your roofing is never touched.

What is included in a professional gutter guard installation?

Every Guttrz gutter guard install includes a full hand cleaning of the gutters, a water flush of each downspout, resealing of leaking corners and seams, inside and outside miters cut and fitted on site, end caps, and small gutter fixes such as a loose hanger or a missing downspout section. The per-foot price covers all of it. Only two upgrades cost extra, and both are optional.

The cleaning step is not a formality. On gutter cleanings in Canton, Massillon and North Canton this fall, the most common finding was a downspout elbow packed solid, often below a gutter that looked clear from the driveway. Under oaks, acorns and twigs had jammed into the inside corners. A guard set over a blocked elbow seals that blockage in, which is why the flush and the reseal happen before any mesh goes on.

Corners, miters and end caps

A corner is where two roof planes dump water into the same spot at once. The mesh and frame are cut to the angle and sealed so neither plane can push water behind the guard. End caps close off each run so birds and wasps have no open end to work into. These pieces take the most time on install day, and they are part of the price, not a line item.

Optional upgrades

If a run sags because old spikes have pulled loose, a few Boss J2 hidden hangers go in as part of the included fixes. Replacing every hanger on the house is a full rehang and is quoted on its own. Zip Hinge downspouts let the bottom section swing up for mowing. Both are priced at the on-site check, and neither is needed for the guards to work.

Who should get gutter guards in Canton, and who should skip them?

Gutter guards pay off when trees stand within reach of your roof: your own maples and oaks, a pine row along the lot line, or a neighbor's canopy that hangs over the garage. Skip them if nothing lands in your gutters, if the gutters are past repair, or if your house has built-in box gutters, which this guard does not fit.

Guards make sense if

  • You clean or pay to clean more than once a year, or you have stopped and the downspouts clog anyway.
  • Oaks shade the roof. Acorns and oak leaves come down into November and wedge into corners and elbows.
  • Water sheets over the gutter edge in a storm and lands at the foundation. Our post on clogged gutters and wet basements shows how that path works.
  • Your house is two stories, so every cleaning means a tall ladder.

Skip guards if

  • No trees are within reach of the roof. A gutter cleaning at $150 to $300 every year or two will cost less than guards for a long time.
  • The gutters are past repair: rusted steel, split seams, or runs pulling off the fascia. Those homes get new seamless gutters first, and guards can be quoted on the new gutters at the same time. A leaking corner or a sagging run is usually a gutter repair, not a replacement.
  • Your home has built-in box gutters tucked behind the cornice, common on some older Canton houses. The Leaf Solution guard is made for K-style gutters hung on the fascia and does not fit a box gutter.

If you are on the fence, are gutter guards worth it runs the ten-year cost math for a typical Northeast Ohio home.

How much does gutter guard installation cost in Canton, Ohio?

Guttrz charges $17 per foot on single-story runs and $19 per foot on two-story or steep runs, with corners included and a $1,200 job minimum. Most Canton homes carry 140 to 195 feet of gutter and land between $2,400 and $3,700 installed. A two-story colonial with 190 feet is 190 x $19, or $3,610, cleaning and reseal included.

The price is good for one year from the date on your agreement. Homeowners 65 and older and military households get $150 off a guard install, and the two discounts are never combined. For a four-step way to estimate your own footage, a price table by house type, and what national brands are commonly quoted for the same mesh, see the gutter guard cost page. The Guttrz vs LeafFilter page puts the two side by side.

How does the gutter guard installation process work?

Send your address with the form on this page or by text to (330) 818-5584. Within the hour you get a price range by text, measured from satellite. If the range works, the owner comes out for a 20-minute ladder check of gutter size, pitch and fascia, and hands you one firm written price. Most installs finish in a day, often by early afternoon, with photos of every side of the house sent the same day. What we look for and how to prepare are on the how it works page.

What warranty comes with gutter guard installation from Guttrz?

Two warranties cover a Guttrz install. Leaf Solution's Lifetime No-Clog Warranty covers the guard material, its finish, and clogging from leaves, twigs, needles and seeds. It is a material warranty, not a labor warranty, and it expects a routine rinse. Guttrz covers the install itself with a 10-year workmanship warranty on parts and labor. Any install problem you report is fixed within 30 days at no charge.

The manufacturer excludes some things, including storm damage, settling, roof oils or sap, and guards installed the wrong way. The full terms of both warranties, with the manufacturer document, are on the warranty page.

What will gutter guards not do?

No gutter guard makes gutters maintenance free. Three limits apply to micro-mesh gutter guard installation on any house, and you should hear them before you buy, not after.

An occasional hose rinse is still needed

Pollen in spring, shingle grit in summer storms, and seed husks after the maple drop can leave a film on the mesh. Water starts to bead and roll over the front at that spot. A garden hose from the ground or a short ladder clears it in a few minutes, once or twice a year on most homes. The manufacturer warranty assumes you do this.

Guards do not stop ice dams

Ice dams form when heat escaping through the roof melts snow that refreezes at the cold eave. Guards sit below that, so they neither cause nor cure it. Attic insulation and air sealing do. The details are in gutter guards and ice dams in Ohio.

Very steep roofs can overshoot at valleys

On a steep pitch, a roof valley funnels two planes of water into a narrow stream that can carry enough speed to skip across the mesh in a downpour. It is one spot, not the whole house, and it shows up on the steepest roofs. The on-site check looks at every valley and tells you where that could happen before you commit. More of the honest downsides are in common gutter guard problems.

Questions

Can gutter guards be installed on half-round or box gutters?

The Leaf Solution guard Guttrz installs is made for 5-inch and 6-inch K-style gutters hung on the fascia. It does not fit built-in box gutters, and half-round gutters have a different lip and need a different product. If you are not sure what you have, text a photo of a gutter corner to (330) 818-5584 and we will tell you straight.

How do you clean gutters after guards are installed?

You do not open the gutter. Debris stays on top of the mesh, where most of it dries and blows off. Once or twice a year, spray the mesh with a garden hose from the ground or a short ladder to clear pollen film, shingle grit and seed husks. If water keeps rolling over the front at one spot after a rinse, text us a photo and we will look at it under the warranty.

Should I choose white, black or mill gutter guards?

Pick the color that matches the gutter lip or the roof edge, since the frame is what shows from the ground. White suits white gutters and light trim. Black disappears against dark shingles and dark trim. Mill is unpainted aluminum, which blends with mill-finish or brown gutters and weathers to a soft gray. We bring the choice to the on-site check so you can hold a sample against your house.

What should I ask any gutter guard installer before I sign?

Ask for the manufacturer warranty document and the installer's own workmanship warranty in writing. Ask whether cleaning, downspout flushing and resealing are part of the price. Ask whether corners cost extra. Ask whether anything goes under the shingles. And divide the total by the feet of gutter so you know the per-foot price, which is the only fair way to compare two quotes.

Will birds, wasps or squirrels get under the gutter guards?

The fitted corners and end caps close off the open ends where nests usually start, and the mesh covers the top of the gutter end to end. Nothing is guaranteed against a determined animal, but a sealed micro-mesh system gives them no gap to work into. If you already have a nest in a gutter, it comes out during the cleaning that is part of the install.

Do micro-mesh gutter guards rust or stain the gutters?

The mesh is stainless steel and the frame is aluminum, and neither one rusts. Leaf Solution's triple-dip finish on the frame is covered for finish defects under the Lifetime No-Clog Warranty. Dark tiger striping on gutters comes from roof runoff and dirt, not from the guard, and a hand cleaning before the install removes most of what is there.

Can Guttrz install new gutters and gutter guards at the same time?

Yes. If your gutters are past repair, we quote new 5-inch or 6-inch seamless aluminum gutters and the guards together, with the old gutters hauled away. The gutters go on first and the guards go on the new gutters. Each part is its own line on the written price so you can see what you are paying for.

How many feet of gutter does a typical Canton home have?

Most homes in Canton and the surrounding towns have about 140 to 195 feet of gutter, counting the garage and any porch roof. A small ranch can be under 100 feet and a large two-story with a wraparound porch can pass 260. We measure yours from satellite before quoting, so you never have to climb up with a tape.
