Guttrz / Seamless gutters in Granger Township

Seamless gutters in Granger Township, Ohio

For estate homes and barns on two-acre lots, where 300 feet of gutter has to drain through enough downspouts. 5-inch and 6-inch seamless aluminum, one written price after a 20-minute check.

Guttrz installs 5-inch and 6-inch seamless aluminum gutters and downspouts in Granger Township, Ohio, formed on site to the length of each run, with tear-off and haul-away of the old gutters included. Granger houses on two-acre lots often carry 300 feet of gutter or more, so the job is decided by the number of downspouts, about one for every 30 to 40 feet, and by forming each long run as one piece. Barns usually get 6-inch gutters with 3x4 downspouts. Guttrz publishes no per-foot gutter price. Your firm written price follows a 20-minute on-site check and is good for one year.

Seamless gutters in Granger Township, Ohio go on some of the longest gutter systems Guttrz sees anywhere in its service area. Township zoning puts a house on at least two acres with 175 feet of frontage, and the houses built on that ground spread out: a long main roof, a garage wing, a porch, often a barn behind. The house alone commonly carries 300 feet of gutter or more. On a system that size, two things decide whether it works: how many downspouts it has, and whether each long run is one piece of metal. Guttrz installs 5-inch and 6-inch seamless aluminum gutters and downspouts here, formed on site, with the old gutters torn off and hauled away. Service details are on the main seamless gutters page.

Why does a Granger Township house carry 300 feet of gutter or more?

Because the houses are big and the lots let them sprawl. The 2012 to 2016 American Community Survey counted 1,730 housing units in the township, and about 45 percent of them went up between 1990 and 2009, the years when large custom homes on acreage became the norm here. Pre-1940 farmhouses along Beach, State, Boneta and Hamilton roads are the exception, about one in ten.

A two-story house of that era with a side-load three-car garage, a rear porch and a few bump-outs can run 320 feet of gutter with 15 or more corners.

How many downspouts does a 300-foot gutter system need?

A common guideline is one downspout for roughly every 30 to 40 feet of gutter, so a 320-foot system needs eight to eleven. Many big houses were built with five or six, placed where they would hide, which is why clean gutters here can still pour over the front edge in a July storm.

Long runs also have a pitch problem. Gutters fall about a quarter inch for every 10 feet toward the outlet, so an 80-foot run pitched one way drops 2 inches, which looks crooked against a straight fascia. Formed as one seamless piece and pitched from the middle toward a downspout at each end, it drops about an inch per side and doubles the outlets.

Run lengthDrop if pitched one wayDrop if pitched from the middleDownspouts at 30 to 40 feet each
40 feet1 inchNot needed1
60 feet1.5 inches0.75 inch per side2
80 feet2 inches1 inch per side2 to 3
100 feet2.5 inches1.25 inches per side3

Sectional gutter would put seven sealed joints in an 80-foot run, each one a place to leak, sag or hold ice through the freeze and thaw cycles that run here from November to March. A seamless run has none until the corner. For when the house itself needs 6-inch, see 5-inch vs 6-inch gutters.

What gutters belong on a barn or outbuilding in Granger?

Six-inch gutters with 3x4 downspouts, in most cases. A barn or pole building has two long straight eaves, no corners, and often a metal roof. Metal sheds water faster than shingles and lets snow slide off in sheets, so the gutter below takes a hard, fast load. A 6-inch gutter carries roughly 40 percent more water than a 5-inch, and a 3x4 downspout moves about twice what a 2x3 does. On a 60-foot barn eave, that means two 3x4 downspouts and one seamless run.

Barn gutters also get knocked by mowers, trailers and horses. Aluminum coil comes in two common thicknesses, .027 and .032 inch, and the heavier one resists dents better, so ask which gauge is on any barn quote. Old steel gutters rusted through at the bottom leave with the tear-off.

When do gutters go on a new custom home in Granger Township?

Last, after the roof, fascia and siding are finished and before final grading. Medina County is still growing: about 151,000 people in 2000, about 182,000 in 2020, and a Census Bureau estimate of 184,625 in July 2024. The county saw 717 new housing structures authorized in 2022 and 471 in 2024, some of them custom homes on Granger acreage, in subdivisions such as Carmela Estates and on ten-acre parcels along Granger Road.

On a new build, Guttrz measures once the fascia and siding are done, so the hangers go into finished wood and nothing has to come back off. If the builder is running buried drain lines from the downspout locations, settle the number and size of downspouts before those lines are trenched. A 3x4 downspout needs a 3x4 outlet at the ground.

Can new seamless gutters match the gutters already on the house after an addition?

Yes, as long as size and profile match. Most Granger houses have K-style aluminum in 5-inch or 6-inch. The new run is formed in the same size and profile so the fascia line stays even, and color is checked against the existing gutter on site.

The one thing not to do is splice the new run into the old one. A new piece sealed to a 25-year-old gutter puts a joint where the two will move differently in cold weather. The better layout gives the addition its own run and downspout, meeting the old gutter at a corner or an end cap. If the old gutters are sound, they stay. If they are spike-hung and sagging, repair or replace gutters lays out the signs; one loose run on good metal is a gutter repair, not a replacement.

Where should downspouts discharge on a two-acre lot with a septic system?

Away from the leach field and well clear of the foundation. Outside the Granger Lake condominium district, which the township zoning resolution notes was built with its own central water and sewer, homes here commonly rely on a household septic system. Ohio Administrative Code 3701-29-06 says no household sewage treatment system may receive water from roofs, foundations or clear water sumps, and roof water on the leach field soaks the soil the system needs.

Soil makes it worse. Much of Medina County sits on glacial till, and USDA descriptions of common Northeast Ohio till soils such as Wadsworth and Rittman note a dense fragipan 18 to 36 inches down that slows water, with a perched water table near the surface from October to June. Water from 320 feet of gutter, dumped at the corners, goes sideways toward the basement, so downspouts here want extensions or buried lines that carry water downhill to daylight, past both the foundation and the septic area. Underground lines are a drainage contractor's work.

What do seamless gutters cost on a large Granger Township home?

Guttrz does not publish a per-foot gutter price. Your firm price comes in writing after a 20-minute on-site check, gutters and downspouts on the same page, good for one year. For context, seamless aluminum gutters in Northeast Ohio are commonly quoted at about $8 to $14 per foot for 5-inch and $10 to $18 per foot for 6-inch. On 320 feet, that is $2,560 to $4,480 in 5-inch and $3,200 to $5,760 in 6-inch, before downspouts. A 120-foot barn in 6-inch adds $1,200 to $2,160 at the same market rates. Those are market numbers, not Guttrz prices. The line items are explained in seamless gutter cost in Ohio.

If the metal is sound and the trouble is leaves, a gutter cleaning in Granger Township or the guards priced on the Granger gutter guard page may be the better spend. To get a gutter quote, use the form on this page or text your address to (330) 818-5584, and mention any barn or garage for the same visit. Questions

How long does it take to replace 300 feet of gutter on a Granger Township house?

Most homes are done in a day, but a 300-foot system with two stories, many corners and a barn can run longer than a typical house. Tear-off and haul-away of the old gutters are part of the job. If the fascia behind the old gutter turns out to be rotted once it is down, that repair is quoted before work continues, and it can add time.

My Granger house already has 6-inch gutters and still overflows. What is wrong?

Usually not the gutter size. Check three things: the downspouts, the outlets and the pitch. Some 6-inch gutters were hung with 2x3 downspouts, which move about half the water a 3x4 does. Others have too few outlets for a long run. And a run that holds water days after a rain has lost its pitch, which is a repair. If the gutters are clean, pitched and still spill, more or larger downspouts are the fix, not a bigger gutter.

Can you replace the gutters on just the garage wing or the barn and leave the rest?

Yes. Each run on a Granger property is its own job. A crushed garage run or a rusted barn gutter can be replaced with a new seamless piece while the main house keeps its gutters. The on-site check looks at every run and tells you which ones are sound, so you replace only what has failed.

Can new downspouts connect to the buried drain lines the builder put in?

Usually, with an adapter where the downspout meets the pipe at the ground. A 3x4 downspout needs a larger adapter than a 2x3. The bigger question is whether the buried line itself is open and still drains to daylight. Run a hose into it before the gutter work. Guttrz does not install or clear underground drain lines; if one is blocked, have a drainage contractor clear it first.

Do you install seamless gutters in Remsen Corners and along Beach, State, Boneta and Hamilton roads?

Yes. All of Granger Township is in the Guttrz service area, whether the house is near Remsen Corners, in a subdivision, or on acreage along Beach, State, Boneta or Hamilton roads. Send your street address and the list of buildings you want gutters on, and you will be contacted within the hour during business hours.

Can gutter guards go on new gutters the same day on a house this size?

Yes. Leaf Solution guards fit 5-inch and 6-inch gutters and can be installed on the same visit at the normal rate, $17 per foot on single-story runs and $19 per foot on two-story runs, corners included. A house with 200 feet of two-story gutter and 120 feet of single-story gutter would be 200 x $19 plus 120 x $17, or $5,840, added to your written gutter price. Guards are optional and can be added later at the same rate.
