Seamless gutters in Hartville, Ohio
One-piece aluminum gutters for the long, straight eaves of Lake Township: farmhouses, ranches, pole barns and detached garages. Old gutters hauled away. One written price after a 20-minute check.
Guttrz installs 5-inch and 6-inch K-style seamless aluminum gutters and downspouts in Hartville, Ohio, each run formed on site in one piece, so a 60-foot barn eave or farmhouse run has no joints to leak or sag. Big metal barn roofs usually call for 6-inch gutter with 3x4-inch downspouts, and old galvanized steel on farmhouses is torn off and hauled away as part of every job. Seamless gutters in Northeast Ohio are commonly quoted at about $8 to $14 per foot for 5-inch and $10 to $18 for 6-inch, market ranges, not Guttrz prices. Your firm Guttrz price comes in writing after a 20-minute on-site check and is good for one year.
Seamless gutters in Hartville, Ohio are mostly a question of length. A farmhouse eave, a long ranch, a pole barn or a detached garage can run 40, 60 or 80 feet without a corner. Guttrz installs 5-inch and 6-inch K-style seamless aluminum gutters and downspouts here, each run formed on site in one piece, with the old gutters torn off and hauled away. This page covers what long, straight runs need in Lake Township: one-piece gutters, the right size under a barn roof, old steel on a farmhouse, hangers that hold in open-country wind, and where the water should go on flat ground. What every job includes is on the main seamless gutters page.
Why are gutter runs so long around Hartville?
Because most of the buildings are outside the village, on land. The 44632 ZIP code holds about 4,022 housing units, while the village itself had 1,455 at the 2020 census. Roughly two of every three homes with a Hartville address sit out in Lake Township, which covers 34.7 square miles of land and grew from 25,892 people in 2000 to 30,324 in 2020. Out there the house is often a long one-story ranch or a farmhouse, and it rarely stands alone.
The outbuildings are long too. Lake Township zoning caps accessory buildings on a residential lot at 1,200 square feet on an acre or less, rising to 3,000 square feet on five acres or more. A 30 by 40 pole barn fits the first cap and a 40 by 75 barn the last. That is a 40-foot or a 75-foot gutter on each eave, straight, with no corner to break it up.
Why should a 60-foot gutter be one piece instead of six?
Sectional gutter from a store comes in 10-foot lengths. A 60-foot eave takes six pieces and five joints, and every joint is sealed with caulk that cracks and lets go after a few Ohio winters. Seamless gutter is rolled from a coil of painted aluminum at the truck and cut to the full 60 feet. The only joints are the end caps and the downspout outlet.
Length also makes slope harder. A gutter needs about a quarter inch of fall for every 10 feet, so a 60-foot run drops an inch and a half toward its outlet. Sectional runs sag at the joints and leave puddles between them. One piece holds a straight line from end to end. On a run this long a downspout at each end usually beats one in the middle, since a common guideline is one downspout for every 30 to 40 feet of gutter.
Does a pole barn roof need 6-inch gutters and 3x4 downspouts?
Often, yes. A 6-inch gutter carries roughly 40 percent more water than a 5-inch, and a 3x4-inch downspout moves about twice the water of a 2x3. A barn roof plane is large, so each foot of gutter collects more rain than on a house, and most barn roofs are metal, which sends a summer storm into the gutter all at once.
| Building | Typical runs | What usually fits | Downspouts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Village house, 1910s to 1930s | 25 to 35 feet, several corners | 5-inch | 2x3-inch, one per run |
| One-story ranch | 50 to 70 feet on the long sides | 5-inch, 6-inch under a valley | 2x3-inch at each end |
| Two-story farmhouse with porch | Mixed, porch roof under upper spouts | 5-inch up top, 6-inch on the porch | 3x4-inch where an upper spout lands on the porch |
| Detached garage, 24 by 30 | 30 feet each eave | 5-inch | 2x3-inch, one each side |
| Pole barn, metal roof, 40 by 60 or larger | 60 feet or more each eave | 6-inch | 3x4-inch at both ends |
This is a starting point. Owner Christian Schaffner measures the roof above each run during the on-site check, and the size goes on your written quote run by run. A house can carry 5-inch while the barn beside it gets 6-inch. The full comparison is in 5-inch vs 6-inch gutters.
What is hanging on the older farmhouses, and does it have to come off?
Hartville farm country is old. Houses on Pontius Street NE date to the 1870s, and on a farmhouse of that age the original gutter is usually galvanized steel, sometimes half-round, hung on spikes or on straps nailed under the shingles. Steel was coated, not rustproof. Once the zinc wears through it rusts from the inside out: orange streaks on the fascia, a drip line in the gravel below, a bottom you can push a finger through.
A kitchen magnet settles it. If it sticks, you have steel, and the rust will keep going. Aluminum does not rust, and a well-hung aluminum gutter commonly lasts 20 years or more. Tear-off and haul-away of the old gutters and downspouts is included on every Guttrz job, steel included. The fascia is checked once they are down. On a farmhouse it may be a thick plank in fine shape or soft where an end cap dripped for 50 years. Rotted wood is a separate repair, quoted before work goes on. The checklist is in repair or replace gutters, and a run that only needs new hangers or a reslope is a gutter repair, not a replacement.
Why does hanger spacing matter more on an open lot?
Because nothing slows the wind down. Between the village and Congress Lake, and across the farmland toward Lake Center Street NW, the fields are flat and open. A 60-foot gutter is a long, light aluminum trough with a lip the wind can grab. On too few hangers it twists in a gust, works its fasteners loose, and ends up tipped forward or sagging between supports. Snow adds to it. Metal barn roofs let snow slide off in slabs that land in the gutter, and the Akron-Canton area averages about 47 inches a season.
Guttrz hangs gutters on hidden hangers screwed into the fascia, not on spikes. A screw holds where a smooth spike backs out over freeze-thaw cycles. In general practice installers set hidden hangers about every two feet and go tighter where wind or snow load is a concern. The spacing for your job belongs on your written quote, so ask for it. Ask any installer which aluminum gauge is on the quote too. Residential coil is commonly .027 or .032 inch, and .032 is the heavier choice for a long run that takes sliding snow.
Where should roof water go on a flat farm lot?
Away from the foundation, and farther than you would think. The ground here is glacial, full of kettles, kames and low wet pockets, and Congress Lake itself is a 200-acre kettle lake. East of the village lies the black muck soil that supported at least 29 vegetable farms in the early 1960s and only a few today. Muck ground is former marsh. It is flat, it holds water, and a downspout that dumps at the corner of a basement wall on land like this does not drain away. It soaks in right there.
Three things fix most of it. Put the outlets at the ends of each long run that sit farthest from the house's low side. Carry the water out with extensions or buried drain line to where the ground falls away or a swale can take it. And on a lot with a septic system, keep roof water off the leach field. Many Lake Township properties still run on septic. The sewer being built for the 198-lot Addison Lake subdivision on about 97 acres of farmland south of Lake Center Street NW, backed by the Stark County Port Authority in June 2026, is expected to reach pockets of the township that have never had it. Until then, roof water and septic do not mix.
Barn and garage downspouts matter too. A spout that pours onto a gravel drive cuts a rut toward the house, and one that pours against a post base rots the post. Each new downspout gets an outlet point you agree to before install day.
What do seamless gutters cost in Hartville, Ohio, and how do you get a price?
Guttrz does not publish a per-foot gutter price. Your firm price comes in writing after a 20-minute on-site check, gutters and downspouts listed run by run, and it is good for one year. There is no in-home sales presentation. For context, seamless aluminum gutters in Northeast Ohio are commonly quoted at about $8 to $14 per foot for 5-inch and $10 to $18 per foot for 6-inch. Those are market ranges, not Guttrz prices.
A 40 by 60 pole barn with gutter on both eaves is 120 feet of 6-inch, which at the typical market range is 120 x $10 to 120 x $14, or $1,200 to $2,160 for the gutter alone, with downspouts as a separate line. There are no corners to form, so labor per foot runs lower than on a house, but a barn eave is often as high as a second story. Where the line items land is in our guide to seamless gutter cost in Ohio.
The Guttrz office is at 1196 Doncaster St NW in North Canton, about 20 minutes from the village by Market Avenue North and State Route 619. Whether your place is on Edison Street, off Congress Lake Avenue, along State Route 43 south of town or on a farm lane in Lake Township, the visit is the same: a ladder, a tape on every run, and one written price. New gutters under fence-row trees can take guards the same visit at the rates on our Hartville gutter guard page. If the metal is sound and the trouble is a packed outlet, a Hartville gutter cleaning at $150 to $300 may be all you need. Use the form on this page or text your address to (330) 818-5584 and say how many buildings have gutters.
Questions
Can you put seamless gutters on a pole barn in Lake Township?
Yes. A pole barn is a good fit for seamless gutter because its eaves are long and straight, so each side is one piece with no joints. Most metal barn roofs are sized for 6-inch gutter with 3x4-inch downspouts because the roof is large and sheds water fast. The barn is measured on the same visit as the house, and both go on one written quote.
How long of a gutter can be made in one piece?
The gutter is rolled out of a continuous coil at the truck, so a run as long as a barn eave or a ranch roofline can be formed in a single piece. The practical limit is handling and getting it up to the fascia in one lift, not the machine. Runs are cut to the exact length measured at your building.
My farmhouse has old steel half-round gutters. Can those be replaced with seamless aluminum?
Yes. Rusted steel half-round comes off and is hauled away as part of the job, and new K-style seamless aluminum is hung on hidden hangers screwed into the fascia. If the house has straps nailed under the shingles or open rafter tails instead of a fascia board, that is noted at the on-site check, and the quote explains how the new gutter will be fastened.
Do gutters on an open Hartville lot need more hangers than in town?
Usually, yes. A long aluminum run on an open lot catches more wind and more sliding snow than the same run on a sheltered street, and each hanger shares that load. In general practice hidden hangers go about every two feet, closer where wind or snow is a concern. Ask for the spacing in writing on any quote you compare.
Where should barn and garage downspouts drain on flat ground?
Away from the building and away from any septic leach field. On flat Lake Township ground a downspout that empties at the base of a wall or post keeps that spot wet all year. Extensions or a buried line should carry the water to where the ground falls away or a swale can take it. Outlet locations for each downspout are agreed before install day.
Can Guttrz replace the gutters on only the barn, not the house?
Yes. Each building is quoted on its own lines, so you can replace the barn gutters now and leave sound gutters on the house. If the house gutters only need new hangers or a reslope, that is quoted as a repair instead of a replacement.
