Gutter cleaning in Aurora, Ohio is a bigger job than in most of our area. Aurora is in Portage County, the farthest east we go, about 40 miles and roughly 45 minutes from the Guttrz office at 1196 Doncaster St NW in North Canton. The houses are large, the lots are wooded or sit beside water, and one home can carry 200 feet of gutter and eight or more downspouts. We clean every run by hand for $150 to $300, flush every downspout, and text you photos the same day. The main gutter cleaning page has the full service details. This page covers Aurora.
Why does gutter cleaning in Aurora mean long runs and a lot of downspouts?
Because Aurora built big and built late. It spreads 17,239 residents, per the 2020 census, over about 24 square miles. Roughly seven in ten homes are detached single-family houses, and the 1990s were the busiest building decade, with about a quarter of the housing stock.
A 1990s Aurora house is often a two-story with a side-load garage, a bump-out or two, and a roof broken into several planes. Every plane feeds its own gutter section, and every section needs an outlet. That is how a house ends up with 180 to 250 feet of gutter and ten or twelve downspouts, each with an elbow at the top where debris packs solid.
How much does gutter cleaning cost on a large Aurora home?
Guttrz charges $150 to $300. About $150 covers a single-story home with light debris. A two-story home or heavy buildup runs up to $300. Nothing above $300 is published; an unusually large or tall house gets its own quote.
| Aurora home | What drives the price | Typical price |
|---|---|---|
| Single-story condo or ranch, such as many Walden units | Short ladder, shade keeps debris wet | About $150 |
| Two-story 1990s colonial on a wooded subdivision lot | Long runs, many downspouts, leaves from the tree line | Toward $300 |
| Large custom home in Barrington or on Aurora Lake | Tall walls, many roof planes, 250 feet or more of gutter | Quoted after we see it |
The firm number comes by text or call within the hour during business hours, Monday to Friday 8 to 6 and Saturday 9 to 2. Mention a walkout rear. Many Aurora lots slope toward a pond or creek, and a walkout makes the back wall a three-story ladder job.
What happens when a downspout plugs on a lot next to a pond or wetland?
Aurora is wet ground. Tinkers Creek, the largest tributary of the Cuyahoga River, rises in this corner of Portage County, and the 786-acre Tinkers Creek State Nature Preserve on the Summit County line sits amid thousands of acres of peat, marsh and swamp. The Trust for Public Land helped protect 115 acres of the Aurora Wetlands, now owned by the city, on top of the larger blocks of preserved land around Pond Brook and Tinkers Creek. Sunny Lake Park alone covers 272 acres around a 68-acre lake.
Houses were built around all of that water, so the soil beside many foundations drains slowly. A plugged elbow stops the gutter from doing its job. It overflows and dumps the whole roof's rain into a two-foot strip along the foundation. On a pond-side Aurora lot that water has nowhere to go, so it stands against the wall and finds the basement. Our post on clogged gutters and wet basements explains how. We flush every downspout from the top and watch the bottom. If one empties against the foundation or into a buried pipe that does not take water, you will hear about it. We do no underground drain work.

Which Aurora neighborhoods fill gutters the fastest?
Aurora grew in planned communities, and each one puts something different in the gutter.
Walden. A planned community from the 1970s with condominium clusters and single-family homes around a golf course, most of it under mature trees. Gutters here stay shaded and damp. Debris that never dries packs into a heavy mat by November.
Barrington. A gated community around a Jack Nicklaus Signature course that opened in 1994, with large custom homes. A fairway lot has two sides. The course side stays fairly clean. The side facing the tree line between lots fills first, often from one or two big trees. The houses are tall with many corners, so the ladder work is slow.
Aurora Shores and Hawthorn of Aurora. Both sit on Aurora Lake, a private lake of about 305 acres on the Reminderville line. Aurora Shores has roughly 887 homes, many from the 1970s and 1980s, and Hawthorn is newer. Wind off open water carries leaves farther than it does between houses, so lake-side gutters fill from trees that are not on your lot. On the older houses we also watch the hangers. See gutters pulling away from the house.
Older homes near the center. Aurora was settled in 1799 by Ebenezer Sheldon, a Revolutionary War veteran, and the center around Route 306 and Route 82 still has houses from long before the subdivisions, with the biggest trees and the simplest rooflines. South of there, Aurora Farms Premium Outlets on Route 43 grew out of a farm auction that started in the 1930s and was a flea market by the 1970s.
What did Guttrz find on fall 2026 cleanings in Stark County?
What we can share comes from our own September and October 2026 cleanings in Canton, Massillon and North Canton. The North Canton jobs were under mature oaks, with leaves, twigs and acorns packed into the corners and outlets. On many of those houses the elbow at the top of the downspout was packed solid. The gutter filled like a bathtub and ran over the front edge even in light rain. Clearing the elbow and flushing the downspout fixed it.
Aurora's woods hold plenty of oak, and oak debris behaves the same way in Portage County. Acorns wedge in the elbow, twigs bridge the opening, and leaves pile behind them. See why gutters overflow for other causes.

Does the drive from North Canton change the price or the schedule?
Not the price. The $150 to $300 range is the same in Aurora as in Stark County. The drive does affect scheduling. Aurora is at the far east edge of our map, so cleanings there are booked on set days rather than the next morning. Owner Christian Schaffner does the on-site work check. The ladder goes up with a standoff and never rests on the gutter, and corners, hangers and pitch are checked while we are up there.
How often should an Aurora home have its gutters cleaned?
For a wooded Walden or Barrington lot, plan on two visits: late spring after the maple seed drops and late fall after the oaks finish. An open lake lot may do fine with one late fall visit. See how often to clean gutters in Ohio and signs you need a cleaning.
If two cleanings a year on a 250-foot house adds up, guards are an option, not a requirement: $17 per foot on a single story, $19 on two stories, cleaning included. The Aurora gutter guard page has the neighborhood and approval details, and the pricing page has the math. A sagging run or leaking corner is a gutter repair. A run past repair can be replaced with seamless gutters.

Questions
How much does gutter cleaning cost in Aurora, Ohio?
Guttrz charges $150 to $300. About $150 covers a single-story home with light debris, and a two-story home or heavy buildup runs up to $300. Many Aurora homes have 200 feet of gutter or more and eight to twelve downspouts, so they tend to land toward the top of the range. A very large or tall custom home is quoted after you send the address. Nothing above $300 is published.
My Aurora house backs up to a pond. Why does that matter for gutter cleaning?
Because the ground beside your foundation already drains slowly. When a downspout elbow plugs, the gutter overflows and drops the roof's rainwater right against the wall. On wet Aurora soil it stands there instead of soaking away, and that is how a clogged gutter becomes a wet basement. Keeping every downspout clear matters more on a pond-side or wetland-side lot than almost anywhere else.
Why does a 1990s two-story in Aurora take longer to clean than an older ranch?
Roof shape. A 1990s Aurora house usually has several roof planes, a side-load garage and bump-outs, so it carries more gutter sections and more downspouts than a simple ranch. Each downspout has an elbow that can pack solid, and each one is cleared and flushed. More outlets mean more time on the ladder, even when the trees are the same.
Does Guttrz charge extra to drive to Aurora from North Canton?
No. The price is $150 to $300 based on stories, gutter length and debris, the same as in Stark County. What changes is scheduling. Aurora is the farthest east town we serve, about 45 minutes from the office, so cleanings there are booked on set days rather than the next morning.
Which side of a Barrington golf-course lot fills with debris first?
Almost always the side away from the fairway. The course side is open and stays fairly clean. The side that faces the tree line between lots catches leaves, twigs and acorns from one or two big trees and packs its corners and downspout elbow first. If you only see overflow on one side of the house, that is usually why.
Do lake homes in Aurora Shores or Hawthorn of Aurora need cleaning if there are no trees over the roof?
Usually yes, once a year at least. Wind crossing the open water of Aurora Lake carries leaves farther than it does between houses, so lake-side gutters collect debris from trees that are not on your lot. On the older Aurora Shores homes we also check the hangers, because decades of wet leaves loosen them.
